FAJ Congress Report 2008

 

The first working congress of the Federation of African Journalists was declared open by the Prime Minister of Kenya, the Rt. Hon. Raila Odinga. The ceremony was attended by 28 delegates representing IFJ African journalists’ unions and associations, and scores of observers including representatives of local and international trade unions, government, employers’ groups, press freedom organisations, donors, IFJ leaders and local staff.

It was also watched by millions of Kenyan citizens, as the full ceremony featured live on prime-time Kenyan Broadcasting Corporation and other TV and radio networks.
